I recently completed my Master’s degree in Communications and Digital Media at Rutgers School of Communication and Information, an experience that further strengthened my interest in strategic storytelling, digital experiences, audience engagement, and emerging technology. Throughout the program, I explored how communication, media, and technology intersect to shape modern user experiences and brand narratives. With the explosion of the true crime documentary genre in the past decade, it has become imperative for researchers to study the effects of this content on consumers. In this case study for my Digital Media Ethics course, I explore the ethical implications of making true crime documentaries on consumers and society.
